Sifa, a refugee who escaped violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, had not seen her husband Kakule in 7 years—until now. The couple and their children are finally together again in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The IRC team that helped make their reunion happen was there for the long-awaited moment.
After Americans spoke up, President Biden agreed to lift a Trump-era limit on refugees, reuniting families like Sifa and Kakule's—and potentially many more—in the safety of the United States.
