In 2019, the IRC made a commitment to equality for staff and clients by pursuing a feminist approach to delivering humanitarian aid. As part of this, we launched the first Gender Action Plan (GAP).
In 2020, we continued exploring the importance and role of DEI in our work. While we had already begun prioritizing and centering gender equality, it was clear that there were additional elements that needed to inform our client and community work and our organizational culture.
As a result, in 2022, we combined the Gender Equality and the DEI workstreams, allowing us to address different systems of inequalities through an intersectional lens. This year has been another stepping stone in our journey toward creating a more diverse, equal and inclusive organization for our staff and clients.
