Mexico has long been a critical point along the migration route to the United States and in recent years has also become one of the highest recipients of asylum claims globally. As the number of people displaced throughout the country increases, so do the needs and risks they experience.
In this context, the IRC implemented a Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) in October 2023 in the cities of Ciudad Juárez, Matamoros, Mexico City, Tapachula, Tijuana and Veracruz. The assessment included 430 interviews with household leads who represented around 1,220 from countries such as Venezuela, Honduras, Haiti or Cuba.
