SUMMER 2024 INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE
The IRC Iowa team is ready to invite new students to apply for our Summer 2024 internship program. We are offering two internship positions at the Des Moines field office. Our Employment Program and Health and Wellness will be offering part-time positions available to start after a brief interview process over the course of the next few weeks.
All opportunities are available for 3-5 terms, with a minimum of 10 hours per week. Flexible scheduling is available as well as a small reimbursement program for costs incurred, such as travel. A summary of the positions is provided below.
- Employment Program Internship: The Employment Intern will work closely with the Employment Coordinator to assist eligible refugee clients in job search and preparation activities. Other activities include supporting the delivery of Job Readiness Training, resume building, case note assistance, as well as other hands-on work to support clients in their goals towards gainful employment.
- Dental Hygiene Internship: Under the supervision of the Health & Wellness Coordinator, the Dental Hygiene Intern will work on bridging the oral
health resources gap with refugee populations by identifying resources and building relationships with oral hygiene organizations and educators in the community.
In addition to job experience and class requirement completion, the IRC Iowa team has a now proven track record of providing permanent employment opportunities to interns who are interested and who have proven themselves to be appropriate for open positions and valuable to the team. The IRC Iowa team has welcomed more than one intern and volunteer to the team as full-time employees and we take every opportunity to hire skilled and experienced candidates with internal knowledge.
These are unpaid internship positions. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available. There is a daily reimbursement stipend for costs associated with the internship. Scholarship opportunities are available to apply for upon acceptance of the position.
