Private donations contribute greatly to the success of the IRC's work. Although we receive state and federal funding for initial resettlement and employment services, the assistance we provide to refugee families beyond their first few months in the U.S. would not be possible without community support.
Currently, the majority of local donations allows us to offer housing subsidies during the brief time before IRC families have secured employment and provide items such as hearing aids and prescription glasses which are not covered by Medicaid. Additionally, local donations helps us provide training for refugees to become accredited interpreters who we then pay to interpret for our office. Donations also help us to provide employment services and items refugees need to be settled and successful.
The IRC is consistently awarded top marks by charity watchdog groups for our efficient use of donor contribution and the effectiveness of our work. Every bit of support helps!
